The case I'm using is the Cooler Master 690 Advanced a store display from Micro Center that served it's purpose for over 2 years! In that time it took a lot of abuse so it's due for a major makeover Under the plastic frame was 2 years of dust After a good cleaning, a nice coat of metallic silver went on And repeated that color on all of the metal mesh on the outside of the case
All of the plastic on the case is painted purple. It goes on light at first And it slowly darkens This one section keeps going on wet and drying far lighter than the rest of the case Well at least the front is done. I reassemble all the metal mesh on the front panel And then put the feet back on After literally a dozen coats of dark purple, I finally get it to go on even I have these SilentX fans that I once used in my OCZ theme case. This time they're painted silver to match And I have this high power Aluminum blue LED fan for the rear exhaust So much more to come
Hmm, I can't help but think that a metallic purple enamel paint would have fitted better with the whole hotrod look. Like the silver though, came out well on the fans.
It actually is metallic, but lacks the look because it was sprayed on top of a primer and not directly on the bare metal
I got the exhaust pipe to use as a scoop That will attach to the top via two screws I also repainted the reset and power button The drive cage looks a little weird, but I don't want to paint it
I picked up a Cooler Master Musketeer on eBay for $7 And some new Purple paint and primer in one that dries more evenly I'm using a light coat of glitter too just like in my Hello Kitty project While that dries I move on to the right side panel where I mark off mounting holes An then drill them out So I can mount these small block headers Then it just requires 8 bolts and nuts to secure it to the panel I think I need to cut these off too It looks cool so far
The case looks great. Did you have to weight the case to stop it from tipping over with that header hanging off the side? As a side note, TGS you ahve have the best "wallpaper" in your shop.
I'm sorry for the delay. I have been working on this on and off and I keep forgetting to update the work log. Update coming soon
