    Tips :

Torpedoe ships are overpowered. Get used to using them, they are much fun.
The Jap torp ships in particular are extermely good.

Battleships can be very powerful but require a good deal of accuracy from your gunnery skills to be effective. Get used to shooting in smaller ships before going for them.

Cruisers are great all rounders, US versions having spectacular weapons. Would be a good choice to go for while you get used to the game.

Carriers change the game into an RTS. A pretty simple one. Watch a vid on how to manually drop torpedoes. Once you get that down your set.

Take your time and don't derp in. This is not WoT and it will get you killed even faster than doing so in WoT.

Use the ALT key to help guide your shots in.

Use CTRL X especially on Battleships, to set your guns to turning while you manouvre.

Use the right mouse button while in aiming mode to quickly check where you are going and snap back into aim view.

It's a pretty simple game to get into. And fun.

Situational awareness is key to doing well.

The same issues that are bad in WoT are in WoW. In other words, other players.

This looks good. I can't wait until the open beta and addition of the Royal Navy.

So lets Talk favourite ships so far then, for me it is:

The IJN Cruiser Kuma at tier 4, as is typical of Jap cruisers, it's fast, fairly heavily armed and has torpedoes. It has the armour of wet paper but is IMO, the first good Jap cruisers.

The Cruiser USS Omaha at tier 5. Not only is it capable of 34 knots, but when upgraded to the later hull refit packs a 'boat load' of fire power, great re-fire rates and decent calibre guns for it's tier (152mm) and a full rack of 6 torpedoes on each side. It leads to the probably OP USS Cleveland at tier 6.

The Battleship IJN Kongo at Tier 5, and awesome mix of fire-power, speed and manoeuvrability. This is the first Jap BS in the line that is what I would consider a proper BS and to boot, it has great anti-air firepower. It also leads to the:
Tier 6 Battleship Fuso - much less manoeuvrable, but nearly double the main battery fire-power and with the hull upgrade, more AA that you can shake a seaman at!

The tier 6 Cruiser IJN Aoba - not as many guns as the USS Cleveland or as good a refire rate, but the gun calibre is much bigger, so shots that you do it will wreck! It is about as fast as the Cleveland but un-like its american counterpart, has torpedoes. Pair it with a Cleveland and you have some great seal clubbing capability between you and can harras the hell out of the battleships as long as they are already engage on other BS targets!

And Finally the 3 pre-order fleet ships:
The Soviet Destroyer Gremyashchiy at tier 5 - I am not a fan of this ship, main guns are powerful (130mm) but too slow to rotate for my taste. The ship is fast and has torpedoes, but so do most destroyers. I actually get the impression with the bigger guns, it makes it much better for harrasing cruisers and carriers.

The IJN light Cruiser Yubari at tier 4 - probably the best AA at tier 4/5, fast and small for a cruiser, torpedoes to boot and decent main guns. Great for seal clubbing destroyers, escorting battleships or harassing the hell out of other cruisers. A nice all round mix of fire power and mobility.

And the USS Destroyer Sims at Tier 7. Well the sims, what a nasty **** of a destroyer! Surprisingly good 127mm gun, a re-fire rate that would make the angels weep, gun turn time is insanely fast, 39knots of raw speed, good manoeuvrability and is torpedo armed, and a very small target. Without a doubt, currently the best destroyer in the game. I suspect it will get a nerf bat sent its way at some point, so enjoy it now! If I had to choose from only 1 of the 3 current premium ships - it would be the Sims.

Sorry I'm out of keys :( can still buy in though I think.

Quite enjoyed it last night zipping around in my simm thing turns so quickly perfect for close torpedo runs. Been caught out a couple of times not paying attention where I'm going and running aground but all in all enjoying it a lot.

Been floating around in various ships of late, seem to do better in destroyers and battleships.

Friendly torps are the bane of my life at the moment keep getting team killed by people spotting something at the extremes of their range and releasing them only for me to do a close straffing run to ensure they mine hit and get taken out by friendlies.

Been enjoying the Myogi and have just got the kongo which is proving much more amusing ploughed through a destroyer who thought he could do a point blank torpedo run on me.

Also what are people chatting about this aim mod I know its in use but know nothing about it or if wargaming are getting rid of it.

It's an aim indicator. A cheat in my eyes. Not quite an aimbot, but not far off.

They are trying to get rid of it in the next patch which is due in about 2 weeks. It currently ruins the game and I've almost stopped playing altogether until it is resolved.

When I do play now I play in a Destroyer, as they are least effected by the cheating scumbags using it. It has a bigger effect the higher tier you go, and especially effects Battleships.

Sounds about right, I use a single battery to range then refire. Number of times ive taken a full salvo from a battleship at 20K without a ranging shot is mad, OK some poeple may be good but every shell on target midship? I think not. I agree on destroyers if you see an incoming barrage you can usually adjust and avoid easily enough.

It's also having a destabilising effect, as every game now, any good shots are normally followed by accusations of aim modding in the text chat.

Some of the pin point citadel hits at max range early game certainly feel too good to be true and like the aim mod, but the accusations are happening even when you tag a target at 5-10km...!

It's not great but who knows if its usage is really as common in reality. I know it's closed Beta but it was poorly handled by WG.

Hows everyone finding this? Personally im loving it only on teir 5 but having some great battles in cruisers and destroyers. Still struggling a bit with battleships though the US line seem a bit easier to steer.

im acually really enjoying this, mainly fight against the AI as i find it helps minimise the effect of noobie team syndrome but i have the Omaha, i do like the combination of rapid firing guns and Torpedo's for handling the larger ships

Currently playing the destroyer lines. Above tier 6 the IJN DD's start to really suffer from the torpedo spotting issues and the manoeuvrability buff in 3.1. Meaning even if I get to within <5km (whilst surviving the buffed HE secondaries which absolutely wreck me now) a BB can still dodge 5/6 torps. This leaves you to firing torps at 10km and just praying for a hit. The American DD's are still fairly good not being so torpedo reliant and have benefitted slightly from the HE buff, the Benson has a good torpedo spread that helps to alleviate some of the dodging issues.

I'll give an example of how extremely this issue is. I ended up by myself in a Fuso being hunted by 3(!) DD's, they start firing torps, smokescreens etc. I turn away from them and manage one by one to drop them with only my rear turrets whilst dodging in excess of 40 torps (think I was hit by 1 or 2, but nothing crippling). The game atm is really world of battleships and dw I know it's a closed beta but it does make it quite difficult to play anything else and I feel very sorry for the CV players! Hopefully something is sorted because by looking at the BB queue you can see most people have cottoned onto this as well.

    But yeah awesome game! ^^

I usually do better with the US Cruisers Ive got the Omaha like LG Its quite fast, bloody long and has torps and a decent AA compliment. That along with decent turning if you remember to kill the momentum as you turn or whack in in reverse yo ucan effectivly halt the ship which is great for peekabo moves from behind islands and laying torpedo traps.

One thing I learnt last night, when bombers are nearby weave like hell! Things do a lot more damage than they used to pretty much crippled my Fuso in the first few minutes of a battle.

My current favourite is the IJN Tier 8 Cruisers Mogami, with the smaller 157mm guns, rapid fire monster, with HE loaded you can repeatedly set other battleships on fire.

    Great support ship.

Quite enjoying this thus far, although I do royally suck!

Quick query for anyone running SLi, the new WHQL driver 352.86 has an SLi profile for WoWs, however when I'm in the port for a while viewing the ships I get artifacting with lines. Anyone else getting this with the same driver + SLi or is one of my cards a bit iffy?

Usually happens when I switch ships in the port, can't really screenshot it as it either shows fine or solid blocks of colour as the sections seem to flicker quite fast. I've had it appear once or twice within game, but it isn't frequent.

Running same drivers with the same profile on GTX 970's - no issues.
The game itself is running fairly badly since the latest patch compared to previous ones though as far as being laggy/choppy.
