Looks awesome doesn't it. Don't think I can afford it this month though. I have the original Grid, are there any other racing games on PC I should own, all the decent ones seem to be on console (GT4, Forza etc), and I can't stand the UI on Dirt.
Don't consider myself a racing game fan at all, but after I 'tried' GRID for a while I bought it and it's a great game. Saying that I still think it's got more than enough life in it for me not to buy the 2nd, at least not until it's cheap.
I saw it running down at the gadget show the other week, wasn't too impressed, nice engine but after the playground exodus post dirt 2 everything codies has released has been **** and with more people fleeing the studio by the month I cant see much going for this. prediction: people who dont care about racing games who loved the original will buy this only to get stung by something afterwards.
I'm going to wait for a demo of some sort. I played it at Eurogamer last year, the sprint track felt like a Dirt and Grid mashup. Grid 1 demo won me over by making overtaking exciting yet not too punishing, hopefully Grid 2 will be able to offer similar experience.
I 100% will pre-order it. Loved the first one back in 2008 I believe and put many, many hours into it. Hopefully the second is just as fun!
Nfs shift 2 with community patch needs to be in your life (using a wheel of course). Also look at the crowd sourced project cars
I think i will get this, should be cool in Steam big picture mode, lights off and a few beers should be good
It's that price on GMG, and they'll probably have a voucher around, they had a 25% off one that expired yesterday. You don't get all the DLC preorder stuff though, check it out. http://www.greenmangaming.com/s/gb/en/pc/games/racing/grid-2/
Think I'm right in that category, so I thought I would definitely be buying it. However, they took out the in-car view due to "console limitations" and I just don't buy it, seems downright lazy. Shame really, as all I really wanted was GRID 1 with updated visuals...
you're forgetting that a lot of codemasters quality upped and ****ed off to start playground games. you've got to wonder what the management were doing to force 130 people to up and walk off in a 3 month period.
Making redundancies.... Trust me, there has been an awful lot of work done to get grid 2 to be the game it should be, a proper successor to the original. yes taking the cockpit view out is a bit pants, but it's still a really good driving game.
I am massively into racing sims at the moment and finally making use of my Fannytec Porsche. I installed Grid again a few days ago and quickly uninstalled it. Absolutely dire. Oh sure it looks pretty and I'm amazed at the download size for such an old game. As a racing sim it is dire. Lag on steering and awful rubber banding on steering. Dirt 3 and F1 by comparison are in a different league. I also found the american voices that talk down to you like you're a console gamer to be highly irritating. I wunt bother looking at grid 2. Currently playing Shift 2 and realising it's actually very nice.
