For those who are using KT, try the MLT render setting, it will produce a much more realistic render.

Should be setting #19 in the drop down list, when you start your render:

You don't have to have it run all 10,000 passes, you can stop the render whenever you wish to (this is usually after a couple hundred passes).

I had a feeling it would be that one. So how do I stop the passes then without canceling the render?

Haha I've been going for 45 minutes and I'm only on 48.

EDIT: Not double posting so here you go:

Heatsink from an ASUS EN7600GS Silent:

Still not perfect. The model itself still isn't finished and the brushed aluminium texture is still a little too strong, but it's getting there. Once I've finished the model I'll start playing around with reflections and lighting. For some reason there's an extra fin on the top surface, probably cause a tape measure isn't accurate enough for this kind of thing.

Metric, where can I get that shiney wooden floor texture for you have there, but for KT? Their site has a wooden floor pack, but it doesn't look good close up.

Why thank you! I'll take a look on the KT forums on how to get those working.

Yeah, the shineyness is determined by the value you set in the material editor, you may want to set it to something above 100 (probably over 500 if you want polished silver). Metric posted a link to a brushed metal texture and I used the PNG and set that as the texture, however for some reason the direction of the texture differs on each part of a surface, especially a curved one. Take a look at the Kerkythea site, there are a number of textures on there.

i have found that mlt take to long go get a good picture so for those who cant wait 10 hours for there model to get to pass 500 theres the path tracing progressive mode that can give an amasing image in just 30 passes
