One of the items I'm working on for my new apartment is a cabinet that is going to have some interesting piping and switches and gages and whatnot attached to it which I'm calling my small nuclear reactor. I plan to get a nameplate engraved for it, but I need a name. It should be something that sounds like it would belong to a 1950s small home appliance that also captures the excitement about atomic power. I'be played with names like "Pip Boy Junior" and "Fallout Boy" but nothing is striking my fancy, so I thought I'd throw it out to Bit for ideas.
Short answer, no. It started with a piece of refrigeration equipment I found at the Re-Store that was just too cool not to buy. I'm doing a steampunk theme in the new place, so I figured I could make it look like a sci-fi conception of a reactor and run a fat cable to the server rack so it looks like it's powering the computers. However, I have a rule that things in my space cannot just look cool, they have to serve a purpose and so the base of it will be a cabinet to hold my boxes of computer cables.
Little Fat Man Boy Love Association? There will hopefully be a project log on some of this stuff once I get started, but I have to get the plumbing done first!
