Anyone else watching this? I'm catching up on tonight's episode where he's attempting to break the motorcycle land speed record and so far it's both crazy and fascinating in equal measures. What a machine that bike is!
Spoiler It's just a shame he didn't break the record, conditions were against him but i hope he gets another chance to drive next year. One thing that struck me is the difficulty in keeping the bike upright, would a gyroscope help with that?
Yes, I wondered that too. I can only assume that something in the regs prevents them using one. At high speed the wheels themselves would generate a lot of gyroscopic force so in theory, once beyond a certain speed it should be very stable.
Here's some info and specs on the bike. http://triumphlandspeed.com/about-the-triumph-castrol-rocket/ 1000hp and 500 ft lbs of torque. More tea, vicar?
