Hi all, Wondering if I could get some information about a reoccurring issue I have had. I have the above board in my sig rig. Purchased all kit from scan Xmas 2010. Board has been ROCK solid for 8 months, then in the last few weeks it has been randomly freezing. If you try to power it back on, power will go to board, fans will spin up but nothing else, it wont even do memory check prior to post.. If I clear the CMOS using IO button, it will kick back into life, with system defaults. On the FIRST poweron I get a POST window say "there was an error with the CMOS checksum" "please select one of the following" it then lists a number of options. "restore to default" "last known good" "continue" - the above quotes are no verbose as the screen times out to restore defaults and then boots up. After this cycle of events, everything is fine. For reference the CPU is NOT overclocked, I have had the CPU to 4.2 stable, but only for benching. Should I RMA while in 1y RTB? HELP!
Could be a PSU issue, I had something like that and it turned out to be the PSU. Other than that contact customer support get it changed while still in the window
Try changing the CMOS battery, that'll cause similar probs to what you're getting if its dead, because basically the bios is forgetting everything. I've known people to buy these boards new and them to come with a dead battery, so that would be the 1st thing to check.
I will try BDG's idea around the battery first, but yes PSU could be a problem, both on the scan order so I will mention that if I RMA. +rep
