My PSU is a OCZ 450, my rig runs fine and benchs 3dmarks06 with out falling over but CPUID reads the +12v rail as 6.25. Is my psu living on the edge or is the mobo 'chip' being a fool?

    c2d 4400 stock speed
    2gig 667 generic memory
    9600gt 512
    2 * 250 spinpoint hard drive

    Can someone explain please

I'd guess it's the Mobo, if everything's working fine - If something that requires 12v suddenly got half of it, it wouldn't like it and sulk...

I'm sure someone will give you a much more techinical explanation in a moment. But in the meantime, why not stick a multitester on the 12v line and measure directly? Then you'll know for sure.

Your computer would not post if you were actually getting 6.25v on the 12v rail.

software based measurements should not be used for anything like that. If you really want to know, even a cheapo multimeter will provide better results than the very best software will ever do.
