All hail the celebration of ridiculous games.

Can't wait for IV, the previous three have entertained me no end.

Saints Row 2 is one of my favourite games ever. SR3 was poor in comparison because it was so short with an almost non-existent story and this looks even worse.

SR2 was so good because it was 'serious' enough to make the ridiculous stuff funny. SR3 lost that balance and it was basically just like playing a game with all the cheats on all the time. There was no challenge and once I got the platinum trophy I just sold it because there was nothing to go back for. Conversely, I still haven't got to 100% on SR2 and still go back to it.

I'd agree that 3 went a bit too far for my tastes - you need some sort of balance between seriousness and nonsense, otherwise the nonsense just becomes a bit... meaningless after a while. It was also a lot less clever and funny than it thought it was.

Still, loads of people loved it and 4 looks like being even more over the top.

I completely agree with everything the last two said.
SR 3 was still a lot of fun regardless (the initial mission did more to ruin it than anything I.M.O.), and SR 4 will probably be a lot of fun as well. Will it be better than 2? Probably not, but I'm sure it will be a riot.

I wished they had taken a different approach though, something like GTA where you are a different person in a different city, maybe even a different era. Chicago in the 20's or 30's, maybe?

I remember these games being about a street hardened thug that was fighting a rival gang. What the hell is this!?
    You have my curiosity...
