Failing all that, pop the seller a quick email mentioning Trading Standards. I'd imagine as a business seller they'll change their tune promptly.

There is nothing preventing a seller from posting an item (or even an empty envelope) to themselves or an associate in the local area if all eBay care about is a tracking number and three circles. That's no evidence that the item was despatched to your address whatsoever, it doesn't take a genius to work that out.

Parcel Force online tracking unfortunately doesn't show any of the delivery address, but they should be able to confirm the address they delivered to over the phone.

Thank you all for the help.

I have now contacted eBay, during the conversation the representative seemed very suspicious and kept questioning my receipt of the item. Eventually they went off for a few minutes and came back to tell me they have decided to offer me a courtesy refund. This has now been processed through PayPal and I'm waiting for the money to return to my card.

The seller is jlsbatteries, I would advise everyone to avoid this seller simply due to their lack of customer service and unwillingness to help in my situation.
