My XFX has nothing in the manual and my motherboard came with only one SLI bridge connector.
(Gcard and MB manuals are still not up to par :miffed:)

I have searched here and on the net and found conflicting ways of connecting 8800 GTX/ULTRA in Quad SLI mode
These 2 models of Gcards have 2 SLI connectors on each card making you think you need to use 2 SLI Bridge connectors, but I only have one.

One report/thread on the net(can't find link) says to connect 2 8800 cards using 2 bridges to get Quad SLI.

Another, http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t46346.html , reckons you only connect one SLI bridge to get into Quad SLI mode, and goes to explain the other connector is for Tri-SLI mode(yet to be implemented, but when with us we can connect 3 Gcards together and the middle one becomes the physics processor:jawdrop:)

so what is the correct way of doing this ?

You only need/can connect with 1 bridge. The second SLi connector on the top is supposed to be for triple SLi on the 780i chipset AFAIK.

Quad-SLI is only for 7950GX2 cards, last time I checked...

You won't be able to run four 8800 GTX in quad, but there might be some news for those that bought 2x7950GX2 soon.

No. Thats only on the old 7950GX2's, not 8800 cards :thumb:

A little OT but, Tim, have you got an ETA's on the nVidia 780i's and wether they take triple SLi yet?

The 8800 cards only have 1 GPU on them so there's no physical way to achieve QUAD-SLI with them.

I've even seen reports that the Tri-SLI should also work with the 680i chipset.

The 7950GX2* was the only nvidia card that 2 cores, none of the G80 cards have 2, only 1, therefore you only have SLI, Not quad sli.

*Thats as far as i know.

That was the popular one, Asus also made single PCB dual-GPU cards which were the 6800GT and 7800GT duals. I think other manufacturers did similar things with these cards, as I know GigaByte had the 6800GT dual too.

Then there is the 7900GX2 which is basically the same as the 7950GX2, except that it was really an OEM only release and used two G71 7900GT cores instead of two G71 7950GT cores.

ok you bunch of knowledgable folks:brrr: one last question.
So if I connect my ultras in SLI with one bridge in Vista I will be using all it's capabilities(providing the software uses it like Crysis) and need not wait for a driver release(as long as I have the latest driver) ?

the reason I ask is because I thought(wrongly probably) that current drivers don't make use of all the card's capability when both are connected in SLI
    my bad:duh:

Nope. The 7900GX2 was basically 2x 7900 GTX's bolted together..

The 7950GX2 was two Laptop 7900 GTX stuck together via. dual PCB's...
