Hello! Welcome to my new project log for AURORA.

    What is Aurora ?

Aurora is pretty much as the title suggests, it's going to be a build with the lighting as close as possible to an actual Aurora.

    Why Aurora ?

I live in the coastal northeast of Scotland, Throughout the year on clear nights, you can actually see the Aurora borealis (picture below from my house)

I love watching the Auroras, and thought i'd try incorporate that into a build.
When the lights are turned off, the build will return to an all white/black build.

    Sponsors
I'd personally like to thank my amazing sponsors on this project.
Without them, this project would have taken much much longer to complete.

i did want to SLI, but put simply, i cannot afford it :(
The white on the case will be done using frosted opal acrylic to allow light to passthrough. You'll see what i mean later ;)

    Yummy rright ?
GPu has been changed since then for a Gigabyte model.

    Modding
First thing i done was remove the silver from the case and re-pray them white.

next thing i done was re-spray the motherboard, PCIE Slots and fans

Cables arrived for the project from CableMod

I next done a quick mock up of the PSU Shroud using spare plastics and hooked up all the cables
    [IMG]

    Next up, bending the tubes
Normally people use a little hacksaw to cut PETG tubing, but I've noticed it flares the edges and even using a file causes it to further flare.
So i bought this, and works perfect. Nice clean solid straight cuts.

Here's the other tools i use for the job
    [IMG]

very first 2 bends and completely perfect, no bubbles, no flat edges or twists.
using heat gun at low, slowing going back and forth while turning the tubing.

    Filled up the system
    [IMG]

and threw in my desk lights for a demo on what it could look like.
This is a scrap plastic PSU shroud, and temporary cooling layout.
It may change in the near future.

This is currently where i'm at with the project.
Hoping to have this finished within the next month :)

    Check back later for updates

    Shroud update

So the plastic arrived and i got straight down to the garage to cut it.
I used a high powered lazer cutter and coral draw to design the shroud in the correct size.

Will be more detailed pictures as i get out the Dremel and do the little cuts.

For those who would like to create their own shroud for this case, here's the messurements.

Material used: Frosted Opal 5mm thick Acrylic (50x50cm)
Front piece: 10cm x 49cm (you can go to 50cm but it will involve a little extra cutting)
Top piece: 18x49cm (Again you can go to 50, but will require a little work to make fit)

I thought about bending, as I've always done on my projects, but this case isn't curvy, it's more straight edged. Decided it'd look best with a straight cut shroud.
First thing you'll see is i didn't drill straight through, i only went in about 3mm and used 5mm screws to hold it all together.

There's still a lot of work to do on the shroud, but for now, i'm awaiting the light kit from box.co.uk.
I don't want to go ahead get this all fitted, then strip it again to fit the lights.

They had an "aurora borealis" ambient light in our icelandair plane when we flew to canada this summer.

Also, I still hope to some day get a chance to travel up north for a few shots.

Looking forward to see your artwork completed!

Really is a sight to behold.
We're lucky around summer and December time, if the sky is clear that is lol.

Just noticed i might need another 4x Hue+ led strips for this build, especially with what i have planned.
Here's a couple of snaps of the build in it's current state.

90% completed shroud (Still to add sponsors)
need to actually cut the aluminium front door.. Which i have a feeling i'll cock-up. (Tension is high!)
+ Add the third fan on the top, once it's sprayed, time is getting away from me here.

After lots of music, lots of different light positions, different effects, i have finally found the loop the project will have at events and shows.
I've re-played this video at least 10 times now, and every time i still get chills.. Most likely because i love the music lol

Let me know what you think

It's been a while in the making and it's finally finished.
I would have liked to have done more, however i need to focus on my family just now, especially during this festive season.
Here's some final photo's for you all :)

One big change was the coolant, i Switched out the Aurora coolant for pastel white, i love the bold effect over the translucent.

I'd like to thank the people who made this possible.
