my system has gone down. it starts up but cuts out then starts again. my keyboard n mouse are not powering up and the pc isnt displaying anything on monitor. via VGA. all my uni work is backed up but i have an exams starting next week and really need access to it. please help me fix it. specs intel g2020 msi b75-p45 mobo 500gb hdd corsair cx430 4gb corsair ddr3 keyboard lights come on when starting pc but when pc cuts out and starts again no keyboard lights.
First things is do, Remove all ram and try each one as singles. Try another psu. Ensure the heat sink is seated correctly.
each ram stick in and out. Tried cx600 i got afew days ago and checked heatsink. exactly the same situation. the pc boots for 5 seconds then dies for around 10 seconds and the boots up with no display or keyboard mouse. pc was working fine afew hours ago.
Dying MB? Edit: Probably a bit premature actually, I assumed it was a P45 board and it's not. Could still be an option.
so i pulled the system appart and booted out of case. just using the power button hooked up from case. same problem occured. iv got a asus p8p67 m pro in currently transplanting into. so i swapped mobos and then added a 280x gpu as theirs no onboard video out on p67. and it boots up and works but drivers are everywhere is a fresh install of windows the only option ?
To test it it's the OS install that's to blame you could try booting from a live CD (ubuntu etc) - but that's only feasible if you can get on someone else's computer to burn a disc. Are you saying that it works with a different GPU? If so then surely it's the GPU rather than another issue... Also - I appreciate that this is a stressful time but could you try to use the edit button rather than triple post... I've merged your previous posts.
I'd like to thank everyone you guys are life savers. pc is working with afew issues but nothing major dual dvi cable from 280x to u2711 is only putting up 1280x1440. at 2560x1440 all text is unreadable so iv dropped down to 1920x1200 for now and Iv ordered a displayport cable to resolve the issue asus mobo onboard sound is acting up. reinstalled drivers several times but to no avail. my headset outputs sound fine but my speakers are only outputting extremely low volume. a google search revealed its a problem with some asus p67 mobos. I will order a asus xonar if I cant find a solution. thanks again guys
look for blown/leaky caps on the board, as it sounds like a board issue to me. the crosses on top of the caps should not be bulging at all and should be totally flat, you may see a rusty colour on top of them this indicates they are leaking, also not good.
Glad you got it sorted. I think modd recently bought an msi board where the quality control obviously was forgotten. Shame really.
