Tbh so long as they replaced the lost/"stolen" equipment thats pretty much fine imo. As in the article, the music stays on the machine.
    Clearly someones parents are either:
    1) Stupid
    or
    2) Too money grabbing for their own good

    Actually. It's probably both :p

i agree with BioSniper - especially on the 'Both' bit :p

    actually, they could have said:

"we wont replace the nano, but would you accept a real mp3 player?"

not to mention ffs not every american likes suing each other. Not everyone likes it and the fact that it will most likly cost you more than what you originally bought the damn thing for (in small claims court of course).

I think the point is, that, only in America could that happen. People would solve these problems in a reasonable and mature way in most parts of America, and everywhere else. It's just there appears to be a few people stateside who think that sueing people is the skeleton key in life.

Anyway, I hope someone uses the parents who filed suit for target practise.

So hold on, they were in class, which means 1 of their classmates stole the IPod, wouldn't it make sense to get the original ipod back

also its sad that the parents are suing the other parents, so much for the friendship of the 2

Being Canadian, I love bashing the USA as much as the next guy but, sadly, that kind of mentality happens here too. At least the judge got it right .

This is what i hate about america, and yes i know not all americans are this way and yes i am aware that it happens in canada as well, but how many televised judge shows do they have in the states compared to canada?

either way it still just a freaking mp3 player. it's not like it's a car, or a home or anything like. It's just petty theft and for the parents to risk their childrens friendship over this tells me that their priorities are way out of whack and need a reality smack.

    My 2 cents.

I hope the family wh's suing gets their iPod back - after thousands of dollars worth of legal fees, and fines for wasting the court's time.

God bless America, and God bless litigation.

Its funny how their lawsuit has provoked the attention of the RIAA, who is now going to sue them for more than the iPod is worth most likely, so this whole thing results in a loose-loose situation no matter how you look at it. They're probably a upper-middle class family who could afford it too. Shame.
