It it's graphical enhancements you're after, try ENB Series Might want to turn all the DoF off, though.

Helpful. Maybe we should all just use google and not post on community or enthusiast forums like this. Arse.

Easy, man, he was just kidding around.

Perosnally I hate the GTA3/VC/SA engine, I've always hated the way it looks and behaves (despite loving the games). One community solution I'd give my organs to see would be a total conversion of one of the old 3 into the GTAIV engine. Graphically modding a game can fix up the seams, but it can't fix a game being fundamentally ugly to the core.

San Andreas in the GTAIV engine would be incredible. Whether it'll happen is another matter.

You've got to be joking me :|

GTA4 was the biggest pile of crap I've ever played GTA wise, GTA3/VC/SA were fantastic, sure the engine was bogus and it broke alot.. but it was fun. The GTA4 engine tore all the fun out of the game and made it awful literally I bought it for PC, uninstalled it within an hour. Played it on PS3 at my friends and gave up within minutes

I actually upgraded computers so I could play GTA IV!

    I'm glad I did.

But I think San Andreas was the more enjoyable game by far.

I'll be honest... I use an i7-950 at 4.5Ghz, ATi XFX 5970 and 6GB of DDR3 ram... still that game refuses to do anything but be useless and crap.

    Wow!

There has to be a fixable reason for this.

The setup I used (I've changed it yet again) was a modest i7 920, although it was paired with a GTX 480 and 12GB of RAM.

Have you tried altering the traffic density levels? Mine was set at 35%.

    This makes it much smoother.

Yeah I know, the entire system is a bad console port though... so I just gave up and uninstalled it. It was awful anyway... San Andreas is still the best

It's good old Renderware. A lot of games used it at the time, so you were used to it. Really it's not bad if you don't mind the brick hands. And that's not really the engine's fault, Rockstar did that to accomodate their huge world.

I'll tell you it's that ATi card. IV doesn't like those.
That's just wrong. Yeah it's a port but they've actually put effort into it, which is more than can be said about most of them. The PC version looks 10 times better than the console ones.
