    ORANGE DRAGON

    Hi all!

This is my fist mod, and my first time posting. My project started a few months ago, with the intention of creating a watercooled, dragon themed, mini ITX build.

I would like to get involved here as I've been a reader of Custom PC for a long time, and the builds on bit-tech have been a great source of inspiration for this build. As the project is well under way now, I thought I'd share my progress.

Hope you enjoy this mod! All feedback is very much appreciated :) :dremel:

    SPECS:
Case: Fractal Design Core 1000 (Orange Dragon mod)
    CPU: i5-3570K
    Motherboard: ASUS P8Z77-I Deluxe
RAM: 8GB Crucial Ballistix Tactical Tracer
    GPU: GTX 670
    Storage: 256gb Samsung 840 SSD
    PSU: Seasonic X-series 750w
Cooling: Watercooled - EK water blocks - Alphacool fittings

Update! ORANGE DRAGON is now complete! Hope you enjoy the final Shots :)

    Drawing and cutting.

    Fractal Design Core 1000
    [IMG]

I started of by drawing my window designs onto the panels.

Fan holes for a 280mm rad at the bottom of the case.

Had to use a spoon to prop up the loose bits while dremeling the top window :p

    :dremel:

Used a dremel and hand file to get the fan holes to this stage. I then used sand paper to properly smooth out the edges.

Top prevent the bottom of the case from sagging I made two little centre supports out of aluminium "L" channel. They're stuck on using a glue gun ...it looks pretty tacky, but hopefully nobody is going to be looking down there :p

    Rust

Yes, that's a computer case in a bath of vinegar :)

After sanding the case, I washed it down with water to get rid of the paint dust. But as I didn't dry it properly the case began to rust :wallbash:.

I left the case in a bath of brown vinegar (23p per bottle from Aldi!) over night. The next day the rust came off nicely when scrubbed with wire wool.

I quickly primed the case to prevent further rusting.

Totally like the orange colour of this one.

I'm concerned about your temps there tho, seeing that both rads blow the heated air into the case only having a 92mm and the PSU as exhaust.

Thanks very much! I had the same worry, but the CPU averages 27°C idle so hopefully it should be ok.
