I am thinking that perhaps 670 SLI will not cut it with a 4K monitor for gaming though I am open to correction on that point. So any advice perhaps on a 30 inch monitor? Don't haver budget as such will just save to afford it.

I was using single 670 and now 680 at 2560x1600, no problems (but then i am not that demanding, so i might have not used Ultra settings, was not checking if am hitting 60FPS minimum etc).

Problem with 2560x1440 and 2560x1600 is that they are IPS only, and that means ~500 euros for the 2560x1440 monitors and ~900-1100 euros for 2560x1600 monitors.

A nice alternative is the LG 34UM95 : http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-34UM95 - 34" 3440x1440 21:9 IPS. Costs around 800 euros; there are similar Dell and AOC models, also some curved models are to be released soon, at increased price.

Not keen on that one at all as it looks all width an little height. Quite like the look of the Dell UltraSharp U3014 I have a 27" and 2 x 24" Dell's at the moment and I have always been impressed with the quality.

Don't buy a monitor without G-Sync if you are buying sooner or display port 1.2a or greater + Gsync if you are buying later. I really think this technology is worth holding off for if you are a gamer.

My Sli 670's do ok with 1440p but I think you are right it probably wouldn't handle 4k very well.

I was looking at that monitor yesterday but the killer for me was that it only has a single Display Port in, with no HDMI or anything else just a single Display Port.

I ended up with the Asus PB827Q 4K monitor, and whilst most games that I play will run at 4K there are quite a few that won't and I am not sure why yet.

Battlefield 4 will not run at 4K with the Ultra profile selected with AA turned off, I have to drop it down to High and turn off HBAO which still looks really good though.

If the games I want to play don't look to good when running at 4K, then I will drop the resolution down to 2560x1600 and crank up the details again.

The beauty with a 4K monitor is the abillity to run it at 4K on the games that will play at that resolution, but if they won't then you can still drop it down to 1600p and enjoy it.
