Seems that according to Vijay's blog that SMP2 will be based on threads. So if you have a Core i7/i5 then you could see a reasonable gain. Also, the code will mean less need for new core versions as the number of processing cores increases. Hopefully it'll just start to take advantage of the new cores as they come available. It might make 2S Mangy-Cours based workstation look like a mean folding machine(24 cores ), at the end of the year.
