Yeah I'm not bowled over by the noise level either... Will also look into the Skythes you recomment. Thanks for the tip!

Done a revised test with the H80 and an increased 100mhz on cpu comparing to Tranquillo.

Under load for 20 mins~ using prime95 small test.

    H80 @ 3.6ghz=35c (high settings)
    Tranquillo @ 3.5ghz =63c

I think this baby is gonna get me all the way to the big 4 ghz

A nice temp drop. The fans people are possibly talking about are Scythe Gentle Typhoons 1850rpm, Around £10 each from Aquatuning.

I never tryed mine with the stock fans on - Just went straight for 2 Akasa Apache fans set as intake on the rear 120mm mount in my P182 (as suggested in the H80 instructions).

They seem to push a good amout of air

    - Low profile are silent at idle (can't hear them over the tri-cool case fans on low setting) and barely (I mean you can just about tell a difference if you listen for the slight pitch change) audible at load
    - Med settings is much the same at idle but slightly more when loaded, i've not bothered listening to them on the high profile but the quoted sound level for max voltage/cfm still seems quite low.

They keep my q6600@3.2Ghz 1.35v at ~40oC idle and ~52oC loaded with a room temp of ~23oC

God I love this thing, may get new fans in time but the corsair ones are epic regardless of the noise lol

Ok maybe you guys help me decide the best route to get to 4ghz, Im currently:

    3.7Ghz @ 1.34v (100% Load, prime95 for 30 mins, temps are 38/39c

Do I keep increasing by 100mhz and no increases in vcore, i.e keep going until it crashes, or add 100mhz and increase vcore 1 notch every time?

Go as far as you can on that voltage, then when it becomes unstable add some more vcore and see how far you can go etc etc.

Or, if you're aiming for 4GHz, get the CPU to 4GHz then guess at vcore, see if it's stable. If not, just keep adding more until it is :)

    Ok so latest o/c:

3.93ghz @ 1.375v, running prime95 for 1hr temps are 44-45c, Im figuring this chip has 4ghz with probably another notch of vcore

Good work so far :) The Thuban chips were rubbish overclockers so given the 960T is based on a Thuban less two active cores I'd say you're doing well!

Hope you don't mind me sharing your H80 thread but need some advice...

I have some new fans arriving on Saturday. Going to configure thus:

200mm Fractal Design fan at top rear of case - inhaling
2x Skythe Slip Stream 120mm for H80 inhaling from rear of case
140mm Aerocool Shark inhaling from side of case over GPUs

2x Aerocool Shark 140mm & 1x 120mm Skythe Slip Stream exhaling at front of case

Make sense or should I have the side panel fan exhale, too?

Looking to purchase a H100 at some point.
Wish they would offer a discounted version without the crappy OEM fans.

MY h80 IS set up as intake even though my front 2x120mm are intake also, so alot of warm air buzzing round my case, Im thinking about modding my side window for an exhaust

Have you seen what it does to temps having the front fans exhale?

The Tranquillo is a very good cooler, i suspect it wasnt fitted as well as it should be, you shouldnt get that sort of temperature differential between the 2 cards all else being equal. The H80 in nearly all review ive read should perform at best a few degrees better than the top air coolers, although i depends where you put the radiator i guess. If you put it outside your case (with plenty of cool air around it then you get the rest results, the inside of the case will be warmer so it wont be as effective.

Ive been tempted by the H60 myself, but the thing that is stopping me is that i already have a quiet, cool CPU cooler in the Scythe Mugen 3, and i never push the CPU to the point where the difference between it and the H60 would have any effect.

The tranquillo i good no doubt, I installed it as best I could but these are the actual temps I recorded, cant really say much more or less than this, having said that my rad of H80 is within the case so not really pushing more air in as such, perhaps its because I reapplied fresh thermal paste over the existing cpu and H80 Block itself, including the pre pasted stuff. So far the H80 is probably the single best investment Ive made as the improvements ive seen from it have been outstanding.
