I have a Dell Latitude 131L, with a 'Mobile AMD Sampron 3500+' cpu. I want to replace the Sempron with a 'AMD Turion 64 x2 TL-50' CPU. I understand they are both Socket S1, so the new cpu should fit. But what i cant understand is how do i get the driver for the Turion. Will the driver come when i fit the Turion, or will i have to download it somehow. The reason i want to change the cpu's is, the Sempron is much to slow to run Windows 7, and i know the Turion will run it fine. Its just the driver thats got me thinking. Cheers PS. I dont have the driver disc/
What Cerberus said, The CPU doesn't have a 'driver'... As long as the laptop's bios supports the CPU, which it should as iirc the TL-50 was an option on that laptop, you'll be fine... Whether it's worth the effort is another matter entirely, the Turion range weren't that great a even when new. You'll probably find it'll still bog down with W7, just not as badly as the [single-core iirc] sempron.
Cheers No driver , well that shows how much i know Windows7 should run ok on a Turion. A friend has the same set up , and as a family laptop, it runs fine. Laters

No offence taken. A wise old Chinaman once told me. "There are no stupid questions...only stupid answers" Ha so
