Hi everyone, My Medusa 5.1s have just given up the ghost and I was going to upgrade them to Razer 7.1 Tiamat's. Lot of mixed reviews out there and I just wondered if anyone on here had a pair and could give me their opinion? or can you recommend another pair? Cheers Lass
I've literally just had a set of Corsair HD2100s arrive. 7.1 like the Tiamats, and they're really quite comfortable and wireless to boot. Well reviewed on Amazon and the like, and so the sound is rather good.
No experience with the Tiamats but all the rage now are the new Kingston HyperX Cloud headsets. Apparently they're rebranded Qpads, which got very good reviews. They're very reasonably priced as well. No personal experience, just seen a lot of people using them / having positive experiences.
No, but really, I had the G35s and while they were awesome headphones the 'surround sound' effect was pretty lame, and nothing that couldn't be achieved using in game 'virtual 5.1' audio.
You and I always have the same taste. But they awesome headphones agreed. Take a lot for me to change these
Another vote for the HyperX's from me. They sound absolutely fantastic, even on my little Enermax USB sound card.
HyperX and QPads for me. I'd get the HyperX in preference as you have to send the QPads to Sweden for warranty claims (if they're over 12 months old) and don't get the shipping refunded.
And again - smaller and lighter than many others and incredibly comfortable. They sound very good too.
Yet another vote for the HyperX, they've been one of my most adored purchases of 2014. With the velour pads on, they're unbelievable comfy.
I brought up the HyperX's because they're sub 100 on sale, regular just under 100 before taxes I believe (at least in Canada and the US). I remember looking at the qpad 90? (not sure on exact model) but they were at least 160 plus shipping on amazon, couldn't find them from any of my regular online retailers. Only reason I never bought myself a pair was because my old headset died and I had good headphones, so I opted for a usb amp/dac and seperate usb mic. While I'm very happy with it, the desktop mic is rather big / can get in the way.
I think one of the issues I have is that after having a 5.1 headset for over 4 years Im a bit reluctant to go back a stereo one. I know 5.1 and I suppose 7.1 has the community divided on whether it's a gimmick or not but personally I think its awesome. May be worth mentioning I'm not an Audiophile and don't know my low's from my highs etc. Qpads and HyperX like the Tiamats have a mixed bag of reviews. Arrrrrgh its worse than buying a GFX card !
The HyperX Cloud Headset is essentially a QPAD Headset. Not sure which model tbh. QPAD users Beyerdynamic drivers fyi. Which means the HyperX Cloud does also.
Just noticed that the Sennheiser has an impedence of 150 Ohms and my Asus Xonar D2X has a 100 Ohm impedence... What does this mean?
