Hi to everyone, this is my first case mod that I will post here, but the seventh i have build. The reason, always I forget to take pictures from every step of the mod. Some words about my modding style,I like to use old or useless stuff, work by hand (dremel is the only electrical tool i use),improvise for everything and measure by eye or ruler at best, almost never make sketches and style of mods evolves as i work it. The project. I always liked the post apocalyptic games and that's the theme I will use. Also,i always wanted a mini atx case with the variety of m/b's like a full atx case, and a lighter case than the one's I've build until now (no more 10-15kg case's) and on a lower budget. The case. I was at a friends house and in his balcony I saw an old full ATX case,a NZXT Nemesis case, damaged (raped i would say),aluminum, and the idea popped up for the project specs. So he gave it to me before it meets the recycling. Let's meet the patient...
It also had structural bents, that were fixed but are not seen in the photos. For there repairs only scap metal was use, small aluminum plates i found and metal from the case I removed. No money spent until now for the case to be repaired. First part bought,25euros for and used unused 240 thick unknown radiator. Patching up the case...
Making room for the PSU... After some thoughts and tests I decide to mount the PSU in the bottom front of the case,by cutting the case like a copy of the PSU mounting that was behind,by accident I cut it in straight lines even though I had masking tape with drawing, what the @#!$#^%$&$% I've done. Suddenly an idea, why not use the error for good and make the PSU removable,so I don't have to take out the VGA for the removal of the PSU. Some repairs that are not mentioned, are in the pics.Like the repaired ugly cutting of the 5.25 bay. That's all for today.
Thank you. Now let's post some more photos. You saw the radiator with the nickel sides in a previous picture,it was cleaned and painted. I also modded the two fans for the radiator due to fitting problems and did some painting on them. Another 15euros for 3 of them, will use the 2. Another thing I forgot to mention,I'll try this to be a silent PC. Also sorry for the image quality it's from my mobile phone, under sun or lights I try my best for the photos.
More photos of the project. Fitting the panels... Before and after patching was done with metal i removed by cutting them I also cut a piece of the scrap metal to hold the pump I filled the holes with Durafix easyweld and removed the rest by filing. This is also the way I fixed the ugly cut in the 5.25 area.
I 've also done the base painting on the case,an iron looking spray. Installed the rad, fans, pump holder and temporary the pump for tubing measurements I will delay for that, can't find the metal tubes I want. PSU is the same but smaller watt with the one I will use and installed it for modding the cables.
Resurrection.... Hello,I'm very sorry for my disappearance,I had some personal problems, paused all of my projects, had nothing to show for several months until now. Last month I made some swaps for parts, one them was the cpu block, copper tube&sheet Some progress and more nice things, copper made loop and reservoir
When I saw the first pictures of the case I thought it was beyond repair. But through the magic of rivets you fixed it up. Thank god you removed that hideous front too. Also nice work on the reservoir.
I wanted a 5,25 bay-case for my 2*2.5 HDD's,so I recycled an old dvd rom. I needed some mesh for my side panel to hold the 20cm fan I will put and not block the airflow, the answer was a scrap piece i found. some assembly/stealth done, power+reset button moved to the back. That's all for today.Updates very soon.
work in progress... I decided not to mod my PSU cables as I mentioned in previous post,so for the cable management a cable holder is was made, from the scrap pieces I have used all over the case. because of the odd orientation of the PSU a custom power cable was made time for some epoxy glue after some grinding and then painted. more updates coming.
