Hi, I am having issues with getting a vm to be able to access anything on the network. VM OS: 2008R2 Host OS: Server 2012 I have tried: From VM: Pinging itself (Pass) Ping router (fails) Disabling the firewall and trying (fail) From my machine Pinging vm (Pass) RDP Direct to vm (Pass) RDP using TS Gateway (Pass) I have ensured that the VM's virtual switch is internet accessible and its ip address it all good. Advice would be appreciated on what to try next
can you access the virtual machine from other devices on the network? is the virtual switch on the same subnet, as the rest of the network? you have setup the virtual switch haven't you?
Yes I can access it from other devices on this network and across the internet The switch is on the same subnet (yes i did set one up )
ok have you tried temporarily disabling the firewall to see if that's blocking things, on vm first, then on machine trying to access it you'd be suprissed how many people forget about the virtual switch, especially now that windows 8 doesn't have xpmode, but uses hyper-v instead
check user accounts/permissions also try adding the user accounts from network machines to the credentials on vm user account
Adding a local account hasn't changed anything. Tested another VM, this one has internet access Same GPOs are applied to both and only difference is the other vm is win 8. Really confused now. This is also a fresh build server that was working until it was joined to the domain.
