So no doubt you’ve been wondering what’s going on… Well read on! My name is John Pudney and I am one of the new suits on bit-tech. I don't want to drag this introduction out and spout a loaf of empty platitudes. I'll save that for future posts... In simple terms, we had the opportunity to take over bit-tech. We think bit-tech is awesome and has a great community. Therefore we wanted to be part of it's future. We're a nice bunch. Hopefully the ex bit-tech writers who still hang out here can vouch that I'm one of the good guys. We welcome feedback but ask for your patience whilst we sort through the changeover. We’ve done some tweaks and changes already. We don't want to over-promise and under-deliver. We just want to have a cool site with great reviews and features whilst gorging on cheesecake. We suspect there will be questions. I'll answer them when I can, although we have just taken over a massive site so we will be kinda busy! Thanks, John.
hello and welcome, couple things, forums feel a little slower? are you the new owners then? can you deal with the backlog of little issues we have had? (tapatalk ) Thanks guys and remember to bring cheesecake. Oh and don't speak about the relix.
*does double-take* Youwha? EDIT: Also: yes, slow, much slowness. Appreciate that things are in flux at the moment though.
Looks like all the Dennis stuff has been stripped out - that has to be a positive start. I have some questions: Who exactly has taken over bit-tech? Is it BOXFX? What are your plans to sustain it? i.e. revenue - will it mean more ads, or will bit-tech be linked up with another interest of yours? Ads are ok, but pop up/intrusive/in your face ads are frikkin awful. Do you plan to increase staffing? Are the existing staff/writers still with us? Are there still links with Custom PC mag? More Qs will come as I think of them. oh, and welcome to OUR forum - mess this up and we'll hunt you down with dogs.
I'm sure you chaps are already aware - but many people are having problems logging in. It stuck me on a 15 minute cooldown for failed login attempts, even though I didn't have any. I have had messages from friends stating their login/account has been nuked. I saw a massive six active members listed a few minutes ago, but the number seems to be growing.
Yeah, I've had the same problem, and know of one other member who did. But it seems to be fixed now. I would like to know as well.
Yeah, looks like its working again. Wasnt overly impressed last night, multiple attempts, a password change which booted me for another 15min. A couple of seconds spent putting up a notification message wouldnt have gone amiss, but hey its your choice how you introduce yourselves i guess. Website is a mess too, no submenus, news is basic html etc.
I'm pretty sure everyone needs to reset their password! Worked for me. Welcome new overlords, no intrusive advertising please. I'm sure a majority would happily whitelist bit-tech if that happened.
Had the same problem with logging in this morning. A notice post would have been nice yesterday to say the forum was going down. Either way welcome.
I've stuck up a post about it just in case they miss all the complaints here.... I had the same issue too.
I had the same problem last night, accompanied by the following email: An internal IP address? What's that all about then?
Yeah i am in the same boat, i have tried logging in since 10pm last night, only just managed. Don't break it again, it makes me sad
I just didn't bother after it gave me the 15 minute ****. Now it works fine. Look forward to seeing what happens from here on in then. My guess is that is their reverse proxy address. So perhaps they didn't have the x-forward headers on yet. There was after all some messages from an nginx setup. So it isn't unlikely that it was during the time that all config wasn't up to scratch.
