    Intel's Haswell processors introduce "transactional memory technology, which significantly boosts the performance of multithreaded code written with the technique in mind".

    Unfortunately, Stanford aren't too speedy on the To-Do list ... one that's been on there a long time has been the native GPU Folding under Linux - though it seems a closer possibility now with the OpenCL focus.

    I think the GROMACS people would have to tackle it first, and that won't happen quickly.

    How spooky - seems that no sooner had I said this that they released Core 17 with native Folding on Linux!
