Someone just asked me that very question. I was googling for help to fix my PC, and it lead me here. I then decided to stay around as it seems like a cool place to be with lots of helpfully people. So what brought everyone else to the forum?
1) Cheesecake 2) Epic Modding; Namely Dark Blade by G69T (you should look it up... it's a good way to lose 4 or 5 hours ) 3) Epic community My profile wasn't used that much between being created and when CPC merged with bit-tech, but when that happened and I already had a profile here, it was just win-win for me. The CPC folding team was my main draw to the CPC forum, and when it moved over here I was getting the best of both worlds on one forum, all the folding goodness you could ask for along with all the good stuff that bit-tech offered before. Ergo, 7 thousand-odd posts now [edit] Closer to 8K. Eeek
What's CPC? Just kidding, I used to subscribe to the mag for some time before the merger. I originally joined having tried my first self build. I'm sure it was an AMD K7 based system and was so proud, however not so proud of the beige case. It is because of Bit that I went out an bought a dremel (copy) and chopped up my case.
I wound up at the Bit-Tech main site first. Always trusted their reviews a little more because I knew that whatever they reviewed was actually available in the UK, plus they generally made sense. Then toddled along to the forum, plonked my "I'm here to fix your computer" hat on, then never left. It's nice to be around others who actually know more about computers than I do. I get tired of being the nerdy one at College.
CustomPC, was the only reason I came, since realised it's not toooo bad a place really, nice variety of tech related and general posts etc Marketplace is also rather nice
:O Blasphemy! Wait, you're alive?! Yaaaaayyy! Welcome back! (Was MV with you? Where did you leave him? )
Being a depraved dyslexic pervert bought me here...To this day I'm dead sure I typed in big-tits. Mind you I typed in over clockers and dropped the L....Wow did I get a shock that day !!
I can't really remember, it was back in my internet baby steps. I probably joined up to ask a question or something. Might have a wander back to early posts when i am back on my pc rater than tablet.
Buying a PC and getting into reading CustomPC started it off. The specific push to join bit-tech though was a need to read the project log for Legoman666's Mineral Oil PC which was so awesome and crazy to me at the time that I just had to know more. Kind got stuck here after that
