You read it right: a Dutchman is giving away free stuff! OK, it's like this: many years ago during a Wizd UK forum members meet in Birmingham (which was a relaxed, sedate little get together during which we had diverting and informative discussions about the current state of computing over tea and cake, and there was no alcohol involved at all, and no embarrasing pictures were taken and absolutely no hotel WiFi services were hacked to bypass their most reasonable hourly access rates), anyway, during this meeting some guys from Hyper came down and gave us some free stuff. Which is nice. I thus found myself in the possession of a brand new Hyper type R 730W PSU. Unfortunately its rather unique design did not fit in my cramped PC, and now I am (finally!) building another one around an ITX mobo, its size is altogether unsuitable. I am also getting rid of a lot of stuff to accomodate my new mill. So regretfully I must part with it. Since it came to me for free, I am passing it on for free. Here it is: one unused 2006 model Hyper type R 730W PSU, in box. SLI-Ready Four independent 12V rails Omnigrid II system eXtender cables Mesh body construction allows immediate heat dissipation of components, thereby maximizing the life of the unit Supports NVIDIA SLI & Quad-SLI The industry's first stainless steel PSU body. SATA, PCI-E, Molex with EZ-Grip, floppy, P8 & P4 connectors Connectors are gold plated, preventing rust and bad connections Active Power Factor Correction (PFC) (N/A for US model) 20 dB(A) under normal load Disc Scanning protection, PS off time 2ms Fully compatible with AMD 64 bit and Intel LGA processors With all cables and manuals, for P&P costs only. I know it's a bit of an oddball PSU, but there may be a taker? The rules are as follows: Anyone registering interest must have been with these forums at least 3 months, and have posted more than 50 posts in that time. The giveaway will close next Sunday by 7.00pm. The winner will be selected in a totally random fashion by totally random criteria, by my impartial (not to say totally aloof and disinterested) cat.
So the cables go in the top? rather the end as is normal? Rules me out as it wouldn't go in my case...
I'm always building pc's for people who have no budget so a free psu will be useful, I'll put my name in the hat please.
Very generous of you Mr Nexxo, and while the PSU is definitely interesting it wouldn't work in my case either. Most interesting part of your post has to go to this though I'm gonna request more photos of strange and crazy PSU - simply because it's intriguing - and you should record the draw, next viral youtube cat video in making
This would be great for my upcoming upgrade. Please include me in the draw. Awesome give away. Thank you and good luck for the winner!
Top man, count me in please. That shinny will be perfect in my next build which oddly enough will have lots of shinny
Alas, too weird for my little cases too, I couldn't use it. Fascinated by the idea of forum meets, though. It seems implausible now, with forums being so huge (a Bit-Tech meet would probably fill a moderate concert hall). Back when the internet was small... Good on your for passing it on, after holding onto something for that long and not using it I usually feel like I owe it to myself to try and eBay it.
Top entry cables are actually preferable in my case. Where mine are coming out the end is quite cramped in my case. Consider me interested.
Now that is shiny and being a lover of shiny things I will throw my hat into the ring. Great blessings upon you.
