This is a resurrection of a personal project I started years ago titled "Psychosis"and inspired by H.R. GIGER Half way into this project, I decided the P-1 era chassis wouldn't fit my vision. After reviewing CM's 912 basic and seeing that they just started their annual mod contest, I figured I would "resurrect" the project and enter the 912 chassis. However I don't think I'll make the deadline. This is a personal build, not be confused my Bio-Mechanical PC project which is still shelved until I've reached some decisions on it. Click Image To Case Mod Store I've finally finished my H.R. GIGER Tribute PC. So to summarize everything... It started on this build in 2006, but got it shelved several times for customer commitments. What prompted me to finally get it done? H.R. GIGER's Passing on May 12, 2014. If you've never heard of him, you've probably seen his artwork. He was most well known for his Visual Effects and design work on the first Alien movie, in which he created iconic "Xenomorph" ALIEN. Long before working on that movie, he had established career as a painter, and had a very distinctive style that blended human bodies and machines that he described as "Biomechanical" The hardware is combination of old and new, since progress has been staggered over past 3 years. The chassis is a Cooler Master 912 turned 90 degrees, and it's been 3 years since the ASUS P67 Sabertooth TUF shield was airbrushed with the Giger theme. The system has two separate liquid loops, the stainless tube reservoir is for the Radeon Crossfire GPU loop (2x 270x) with Hardware Labs Black Ice 360 GTX. This radiator is cooled with Panaflo L1A (38mm thick, 68.9 CFM. Max. noise: 30.0 dB-A). The 360 radiator grill is from Mnpctech.com with D5 pump and Alphacool top, the CPU is 3570, 3.4 GHz, with Swiftech's new Apogee XL waterblock. This is a great waterblock for $69.99. It comes with interchangeable illuminated face plate, which my good friend EEL Ambiense designed a replacement with a Giger-esque design. The cpu loop is PETG hardline tubing with EK 190 & DDC res / pump combo with Hardware Labs Black Ice 120 GTX radiator. Both loops are running distilled water. The system utilizes 32GB of their ADATA's new XPG V2 DDR3, and their Premirer Pro SP920 256GB SSD. The power supply is Corsair 750W. I'll be using this PC in the shop for video editing primarily. 120mm blow hole kit, http://www.mnpctech.com/blowholefan.html Overkill 120mm Ring, http://www.mnpctech.com/120mm_Overkill_Fan_Grills.html Painting the chassis FLAT BLACK Enamel. The HD will be mounted on the bezel. Here is the windowed shell for the HD. Everything will be covered with Black PSU Sleeving Kit Mounted the rear vents June 18, 2011 Update, http://forums.bit-tech.net/showthread.php?t=207990&page=3 I wanted this build to be the 1st with "hand painted" artwork on the TUF shield, that reflects the theme I created on the chassis. So I enlisted Brad's paint skills. In return, he asked that I take him out to dinner at Big Bowl with Knob Creek and Cokes which is fine dining to us backwoods hicks. So, the cover for optional 50mm fan served as nice location for bio-mech skull taken from the front of the chassis. Brad chalked out general idea and location for the artwork. Other than using hand made square ribbon stencil and corsair 600T intake grill as a stencil, everything was painted off the cuff, freehand without stencils. Since ASUS was kind enuf to send me the p67, it's only proper that their logo gets incorporated into the artwork. (since I removed their stickers!) I'm also leaning toward anodizing their Green heatsinks Black...btw" Notice how the mb heatsink matches the Green paper on the table perfectly? coincidence or a warning to not change them?.... btw: You won't see the brown & tan gpu slots Don't pay $40 for professional airbrush stencils! Make your own, grab image online, edit in photochop, print it, then cut it yourself with Xacto knife. I just happen to have an intake grill from corsair 600T in my car...lol. It served as perfect stencil for airbrushing the mesh grid background. Otherwise Round Modders Mesh would have worked too! 1st official custom "hand painted design" asus sabertooth? This Holiday weekend allowed me to forge forward! HD cover mounted, tried 5mm Green LEDs, but I'm thinking White would be better. Now you ARE aware there is a reason why hdd's are made in clean-rooms, right? Beautifull frikkin build btw!
me like more fan grill with no skull...more techie less OCC! Anyway great skills and YOU're the boss!
Thanks for the support guys! Glad you like it @DP "shelved until I've reached some decisions on it." The modified 912 chassis will be shrouded with these plates, that will swing open
