Bittech seem to be recommending Nvidia GPUs across the price ranges, and I am looking at getting a new card. I have a budget large enough to get a clocked 590, but I think that's a bit unnecessary. I am looking at 570s and 580s, could you recommend a card which will be decent value and keep playing new at a decent spec for a good while? (I think I'm asking for the perfect GPU price included basically, ha)
depends on rez as pete is asking about, but here in the states, newegg has the 570's @$310 with $60 in MIR and free batman arkham city...wow...that would be my direction if it were similar price ratios...
I went for a 570 - gaming @ 1920x1080 it maxes everything Would have gone for the 580 if money was no object, however it worked out at ~£100 more for +10% performance gain

I'm using it at 1920x1200 and it's breezing through everything at max settings without breaking a sweat (specifically BFBC2, Eve Online and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit).
My monitor is 1920x1080 at 60Hz. All the 500 series Nvidia cards come with Arkham City free on Scan at the moment. The MSI GeForce GTX 580 Lightning was one I was considering.
Well, I was lucky enough to pick mine up for £372 from Scan (it was on their Today Only page over the weekend). It's normally £395. If you like Scan on Facebook, they regularly ask what people want to see on the Today Only page, so this card may well be on there again soon.
It's a great card but for the money hike from a GTX 570 you really are getting diminishing returns. The only two high end cards I would consider includes the Asus 1280MB GeForce GTX 570 DirectCU II and the MSI 1280MB GeForce GTX 570 Twin Frozr III Power Edition OC. Both have been reported as decent overclockers and also maintain good thermals, although bear in mind the ASUS is a triple slot design. So if you were considering SLI in the future go for the MSI!

They both have longevity it's just the 580 offers little more value for the asking price in comparison to the 570. This is especially true at standard HD resolutions. Buy a decent GTX 570 and you can surpass the performance of a stock GTX 580.
yeah, if the 570 seriously struggles to play something, the 580 won't do much better...and for 45-50%+ more money, you would expect different
I have 2 vanilla evga gtx 580 which i got for £350 each. They run 3 u2311h dell monitors at 1920x1080 each. 2 reasons Huge warranty And Future water-cooling ability.
EVGA are pretty special in that regard but on the flip side being a PC enthusiast just how long do you hold on to a graphics card as the tech advances? In my mind when you ask that question it's far better to look at the short term cost and a couple of years warranty should see you through until the next phase of super GPU!
It's true that you may not use the gpu warranty but it helps soo much when selling a card Afew a year of use
