I'm thinking of buying one of them, but haven't been able to find much subjective opinion on them. Here's the specific model I'm looking into: http://www.sony.co.uk/product/vn-pro Seems to tick all the boxes I need: *Really light (I think even lighter than MBP) and small form factor (13") *Windows 8 *Excellent, 1080p IPS screen *Good build quality *SSD *Haswell Anyone got any experience with one of these? The things that are keeping me from pulling the trigger is I'm not sure whether to go for the i3 or i5, whether it can power 2 1900x1200 external screens, and whether the SSD and RAM can be upgraded later (I know this is fairly easy to do with most laptops but I'm thinking ultrabooks might be different for form factor reasons?).
When researching these the major issue was the wifi. People complain it is slow and has weak signal. This was enough to put me off due to the £1000 price tag. Otherwise it seems to get positive reviews although sony do not seem to be as highly thought of as they once were. I'm waiting on reviews for the lenovo yoga 2 pro, it has launched at the same price as the vaio but is a little more flexible and has a higher res screen although the original yoga also suffered from poor wifi so hopefully they will fix that for the yoga 2 pro. Another worth a mention seems to be the samsung ativ book 9 pro availible for £1100 in the uk.
Looks like they are very popular I have an e series and using it everyday since 3 years and it's perfect Sony means top quality brand out there go for it I would like to have a change to trade my E to one of those PRO Vaios
Yeah, that's a real worry. Very difficult to justify dropping that kind of money on a laptop with such a basic problem, no matter how good it is otherwise. I might wait until they do a refresh of the range.
