No more waiting >7 days to get B&W film developed for me.
Brilliant! I haven't done any developing for 20 years I guess, it is rewarding to see those images pop out of that strip.

Wait, what were those images taken on? They look suspiciously bigger than 24x36mm and panoramic to me

Never thought of that smell being like burnt matches - SPOT ON! Time machine ON
Wow! That comment took me back nearly 30 years to doing overnight film processing at the university darkroom when we photographed dress rehearsals, and had to have the prints up in the theatre foyer the next morning!

Having a shave outside in the sunshine.

The old 1930's made-in-England Gillette never fails and the cheap aftershave I recently picked up to try smells surprisingly good for an everyday splash.

Face = dolphin smooth and zen = restored.

Now to prepare the BBQ...

HMRC cocked up my tax code at the start of this tax year, so I got hit for an extra 100 tax this month.

I just phoned the tax office to get it corrected and they told me I'm also due a 1100 rebate for last year!

Nice, I occasionally go to an open comb razor myself, very different shave to the full bar 50s Gillette #66 that is my normal go to

All my local stockists are sold out, and they've been told by the distributors that they're not getting any more stock .

Cool, which OC razors do you have?

The rule of thumb I go by with Gillettes is, the earlier the model, the more aggressive the shave. That razor I used today, a 1930's 'New, Raised Flat Bottom' (identical head to a #77 but 3-piece, i.e. has a removable handle) is reasonably mild when compared to the 1920's 'New Improved' (yes, the order of the model names is confusing )I have, which in turn is supposedly milder than the even earlier 'Old Type' from around the 1900 onwards.

By the time you reach the 1940's, they were getting quite refined and very comfortable to shave with. My 1940's Gillette English 'Service Set' Tech, issued to US forces during WW2, is my favourite daily shaver. It's so comfortable and almost impossible to draw blood with. I imagine your #66 is very similar.

First exam for my "LLB-in-my-30's" done, and I feel positive about it.
All the assignments came back with flying colours... onwards to more.

Never thought i'd LIKE the feeling after an exam (especially not since it's been 15+ years since I last wrote any exam)

My open comb one is a modern Merkur and is pretty good on longer growth, not quite as good as my Merkur Futur on a high setting but still pretty decent. I have a few older ones such as a '70s tech that I managed to pick up in a little grooming set, a fat boy (not sure on age) that I am in the process of rebuilding using some bits from a seriously beat up slim adjustable. My #66 is by far the nicest one that I own.

It was given to me by a late great uncle who bought it from Pearson's department store here in Nottingham (no longer trading) whilst on leave from the army in the early 50s. The case hinge is a little floppy and could use some tweaking but the razor is still perfect, no tarnishing on the finish, still tight and properly functioning and sooooooo smooth. The only thing that it struggles on is longer hairs, anything over a mm or so then I am better off using another before using the 66 for the final clean up and finish.

I have a couple of straights that I occasionally like to play around with, one is a very cheap shavette type that takes half a DE blade and that is great when I fancy something different. I also have a mid 50s Flic branded straight with gorgeous celluloid scales that I need to properly hone up, I got it pretty sharp but it still pulls and drags a little so I'll be getting onto the micron diamond pastes when I get some more balsa wood sorted out (I go down to 0.5um paste on balsa for my knife finishing).

My most fun razor is a Roll Razor set that I have been building up from Ebay finds for the past few years, I have been putting this together from various sets to try and get the 'perfect' one. I have a few NOS blades still with the backing grease and paper on them as well as a pot of the stropping compound. The stone side in the case is perfect with no cracks and the strop has no nicks either. Whilst the blades are no where near as sharp as a modern DE blade can be (especially the Feather ones that I always use now), it's a pretty decent shave and the whole 'playing around' factor of these sets is great fun.

Brush-wise, I use a custom made one from a friend down Gloucestershire way. He makes all sorts from stone handles to exotic woods. Mine's a Cocobolo handle with a silvertip knot.

Finally starting to really load up my 1700 after getting things settled in, not even started to push clocks yet (Despite having the cooling for it)

My Word does it hold a better minimum FPS than my 8120 used to, I'm playing games which are still way outside the remit of my 670 and they are actually playable because the CPU can shoulder so much more work and keep the GPU fed properly, my 1% frametimes and rates have narrowed down much closer to the average and it's generally so much nicer to use.

Task manager with 16 threads is pretty cool to look at too!

Speedtest.net scores are pretty encouraging (200mbit down, 12mbit up)

But TestMy.Net on the other hand is a complete shower...

Got my new Glasses. I had basically a new Prescription, instead of an improvement on my old one. Things are much clearer, it's the best i've been able to see since I was about 5.
