    Wow ! 2Tb at 300Mb a second, don't think SSD's will keep there high price for long competing with that.

    It's all very well having these supported speeds but what is the point when the cards are very unlikely to ever reach this??

    never say never, there was a time we had a 512mb hard disk, and we wondered if we would ever need more, or if hard disks above the mighty 32Gb would exist in our lifetimes...

    I'm sure if when SD cards were designed you asked the public whether the 2GB limit would ever be needed people laughed. I would say it's better to be future proof. I guess SDHC was supposed to cover the foreseeable future, but in reality has been maxed out capacity wise very quickly.

    I'm much more interested in when laptops (and PC's for that matter) will start shipping with USB3.

    Well, some no-name 1GB SD card is just over a quid, so 2TB.. hmm, ouch.

    i know its bad but i couldnt help but wonder by who?

    if these are in 2TB flavor whats the point of HDD then? or for that matter a SSD?

    Many people asking this across many boards, but the biggest problem with SDXC is sustained transfer rates. That and reliability will keep me running good old mechanical HDDs until proper SSDs come skyrocketing down in price.

    The thing is, by the time SD cards reach 2TB (they have a very long way to go BTW), SSDs will probably be several hundred TB in size and much faster than they are today, so they'll never replace conventional drives, which will always remain larger and more cost effective per GB/TB.

    never say never. There will be a place and market for everything. IF conventional storage devices outpace capacity requirements of the general consumer I could see a switch to laptop sized drives and finally down to SD sized drives. if the performance was there

    i have a feeling a TB drives will outpace consumers. unless windows 8 bloats to like 100GB to install (7 was about 12GB btw) i just dont see the general user actually needing more than an TB for a long long time. its gonna take a big change, like everything on the internet turning 1080p, to consume that much space. watch 10 years from now the internet be like it was in futurama.
