Sounds like the game Spore could've been with huge fleets and lasers and missiles instead of creatures.

That's what's been wrong with the space battles in all the other space-based games I have been playing - they simply weren't gratuitous enough!

Looks a lot like Homeworld mixed with Space Empires.

yeah graphically it was impressive as still pictures, it just wasnt exciting in action - i just think that with space battles, game producers are going to have get past the whole "ships sitting still shooting at each other" phase because it isnt too interesting =/

though i respect ironclad games... i mean it was their first production right? and id rate it as one of the best space RTS's going

Downloded the the Beta, played it last night, loved it. Simple yet brilliant. What started as a 10 minutes "lets see what this is about" turned into 4 hours.

There are some ships that make victory dead easy, as long as you take into consideration any atmospherics you can load a few of the big buggers up and win every time.

curse being at work! now you've got me interested... Did anybody else have the book Spacebase 2000 from about 20 years ago? It was a big hard back book, with lots of fictional space ships and their histories.

This game might make me feel xx years old again :)
