I found one of these for sale for around £400 used, and am on the fence whether to pick it up or not. Some benchmarks I saw put it around level with a GTX 1080 on performance, but its still a two year old card which makes me wonder if its better to go for "newer tech", a GTX 1070 for example?
295x2 is a super fast card but only where crossfire works, basically very little released this year. When it does not work the card around the same performance of the 1060 or 480 series of cards. The 1070 is approx 35-50% quicker depending on title than either card.
400 quid for a two year old GPU??? You'd be insane!! Go for a 1070, shop about and you'll find some great deals - Boxing Day and New Year's Day sales should turn up something...
Good job I checked, I was thinking it was still a pretty decent card. I'm planning on a new build soon and replacing my 970 - so I'll look into the 1060 or 1070. Hope fully as you said 23ro there may be soon deals around the new year.
As above. Going to a 1060 is just a waste of money. You'll be wanting a 1070 at least. Also, a 1080 Ti is coming at some point, which should bring some of the prices on the 1080 and 1070 cards down and bit.
Oh really? Thats good to know. I was planning on water cooling my next build, which will be my first water cooled build, and it seems a waste to water cool the 970. I'll keep an eye on the 1070's.
