Yaaay, finish.. now i can focus to my next mod..

    This is my 2nd thread..
The first one is: Poor Man's PC MOD (cheap PSU Sleeving + guide)

Honestly i dont know how to start this thread

    My PC spec
Procie: Intel Core G840 2.8Ghz Cache 3MB [Tray] Socket LGA 1155
HSF: Xigmatek Dark Knight (na na na na na na na)
    Mobo: ASRock H61M-U3S3 (LGA 1155, Intel H61, DDR3, USB3, SATA3)
RAM: Patriot DDR3 Signature Line Kit Series Dual Channel PC10600 4GB
VGA: Sapphire Radeon HD6670 1GB DDR5 128 Bit CARBON PCI cover
    Case: Powerlogic Attrix 5000 CARBON
    PSU: FSP Supersonic 450W
    Monitor: LG Flatron 17" CARBON
    Keyboard n Mouse: DELL CARBON
Fan: Yateloon D12SH-12 GP, 88 CFM, 2200 RPM, Fully designed with anti vibration damper.

    Lets start with PSU sleeving...

    Start Sleeving
30 meter shoe laces for less than you can see some detail pics for its quality on my first thread.

I'm using low price FSP Super Sonic 450 :)

This is how I make the tool to open that 24 pin, just an ordinary MacGuyver multi tools:rock:

And this is the final result...

And now, i want to deal with vibration damper for my yateloon fans.
Instead of buying 3$ rubber screw for each fan, i prefer tearing my mouse pad and buy some rubber rope (pre sleeved at 3$ per 100yards :D).

and tied the fans like this:

It is usefull for fan bracket alternative too
    [IMG]

    Done! :D
Yateloon, the best at its price/performance
    * Model: D12SH-12
    * Air Flow: 77 CFM
    * Fan Speed: 2200 RPM
    * Noise Level: 36 dBA
    * Current: 0.30 Amps
2 pin w/o rpm sensor cost less than 2$

For this mod, I use an old case (2006) Powerlogix Attrix 5000 (2nd hand for only 18$)
A nice case, complete with temperature, RPM sensor on LCD front panel display. And yes as all other old case, PSU bay are positioned above motherboard. I would like to change psu position to someplace under mobo like other modern case.
    (damn autofocus)

Since it's only in my dream that i could afford a COSMOS II, so a cosmos style case feet would be awesome enough for me :D

Its all about what you do with what you have.

Im not worried about sponsored builds and the stuff people have been given, so i wouldnt worry about that.

Im sure most on here arent that shallow that they only watch builds if the modder gets stuff for free.

Its about the effort you put in and your doing fine so far.

    keep it up.

nice way to get things done your way. I think you represent many of us who don't have the funds to buy asus ROG stuff and dual cpu builds with the SLI configs.

    keep up the good work!

Anti vibration plus tool less HDD rack
    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
    [IMG] [IMG]
No more HDD vibration noise :D
and its easy to swap HDD too (after I update my driver, i can easily safely remove HDD on my windows) :D
I messed up in several areas when painting my case :wallbash:, i'll repaint it once everything is done.

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
took me weeks to search left angle PSU power cable.. all I can found is right angle power cable :wallbash:

    some early pics

Looking good. I love this because you're simply using what's available.

Have you considered putting some filtreing material to help keep the dust out of your PSU?

My side case already have some dust filter (sponge like), and it would be the air intake to PSU. The bottom case is the air outtake, so filter is not necessary.

Using 3 yateloons at full speed produce enough noise. But if i turn it off, my SB temperature would reach 60 and my case will beeping when heat sensors hitting 60C.

A store available fan controller will not written on my shopping list. So i'm trying to make my own fan controller with my limited knowledge. After several readings and learning electrical scheme, i nearly give up. Then i came up with the easiest fan controller idea using just a potensiometer to reduce the delivered "volt" to fan.

    I try three different potensiometer

And use four of this yateloons

I tried every configuration, 1 potensio for 1/2/3/4 fans, 12V+ or ground cable in potensio, basicly any possibilities that possible to connect my fan with this cheap fan controller.

Gladly i dont blew up my PSU :D

Then i found out that 1K ohm potensio is powerfull enough to controll one 0.3A fan.

I also mod my PSU too,
to make it possible to run fans on 12v or 5v. I color my molex with permanent white board marker :) a lot easier than spray paint.

I'm not satisfy enough with my mod, so i make single hole for single psu cable

    that's cool!
i've used mouse-pad for "anti-vibration" but that idea with hole-puncher is brilliant!!! there were always a problem for me to make screw holes in dust-filtering materials and dampeners. and now it's solved!

Love it! I like to see budget builds here. It always amazes me how people can use cost-cutting tactics to make some great builds.

After all, most of us can't afford to make PC Cases out of Aluminium, dual watercooling loops and use GTX 680s for everything.

I think the shoelaces are an amazing idea. I might do something similar with coloured ones. You've given me some great ideas to mod my case without spending much.

Just a suggestion, If you would switch your airflow from bottom to top it would cool you PC better. It is kind of hard to use your Power supply to pull hot air down. Your working against Convection I believe is the correct term. Other than that not real crazy about all the CF sticker I think paint would have looked a bit nicer. Great Job working within a tight budget and with what you had. My hat is off to you

This is my air flow setting, i'm using negative air flow to pull all hot air out of my case, and let the cold air flowing through side case (with filter)
outlet fans: 2 yateloon 12cm nearly 88CFM each, 1 9cm NMB fan about 30CFM, and 1 yateloon 12cm for PSU to push the heat out of psu case.
    inlet fans: none

I'm bad in painting... really bad.. 3$/can I need minimum 2 primer cans and 2 cans for main paint, and perhaps 1 can of clear coat... and some sanding paper... I already tried, and failed..
I'll try harder in my next mod..
