Anyone have any ideas as I used to be able to play both Dolby Digital (iTunes) & DTS via XBMC from my optical output from my SB Recon card into my Sony home cinema now I get nothing

I have uninstalled & reinstalled both the SB card & Drivers and have also tried using the onboard digital output but still the same.

Any ideas kind people of bit-tech land:duh:

Have you checked the Sony AVR with another source to check it isn't that? Have you a PS3 or the like? That would give you a good indication.

Also - optical cable could be borked? Updated version of XBMC? Tried VLC on the PC set to DirectSound and use SP/DIF?

Well- DD works now in both ITunes & XBMC but I cannot get DTS to work- I have a large number of files with DTS which used to play and I need them to again!

Assuming they are .mkvs, have you tried VLC?

You see that bloke who runs like a girl, that's me that is, that's how I run

Would have been sensible for me to have looked at the full options under XBMC and see that I had unticked DTS compatible receiver :duh::wallbash:

btw VLC will not play the DTS at all and yes they are MKV files

If it's working in XBMC, my work here is done.

...oh and who am I to criticise your running style? ;)
