As stated in the title my main rig does not do anything anymore when i press the power button on the case or board.
Since i first suspected the psu , i hooked it up to my old system, which booted as normal.

I already talked to my retailer since i still have 1,5 month of warranty on it, but he told not keep my hopes up, because the RMA with Asrock will take atleast 4 weeks or even 8.

    Here are my questions:

    1. Can i do a mainboard swap without reinstalling windows? plug'n'play?

    2. Can anyone recommend me a So.1155 Board? :)

    Thank you very much.

If it is a retail windows licence, should be fine to swap straight to a new board, sometimes may require a simple reactivation but otherwise should be straightforward.

    Budget for the board?

    Simon :)

Could also be the RAM or CPU even though it's very unlikely. Have you done the usual, eg:

    - check RAM modules one at a time, in all available slots
    - unplug from mains, drain PSU caps, remove battery for 15 mins, then try again
    - reseat CPU

I wouldn't say motherboard was dead unless none of the above works.

I'm sorry for your loss. Now move on. :p

On the upside: it's upgrade time! :D

I wouldn't be happy with the warranty situation, are you sure they aren't trying to fob you off?

I would recommend Asus or GIGABYTE.
