I've decided I need a new GPU, but with the new CPU's and Mobo's coming in the new year, should I -
    • Wait to do a full system upgrade and get a 2nd GTX 285 and SLI them in the interim
    • Or just say 'sod it' and get the best GPU I can right now?

Current rig spec is in my sig, but power and space aren't a problem, just whether it's actually worth doing.

just get the best video card you can get now

SLI 285s aren't really worth it, even a 7870 or gtx 660 will perform better with a lot more reliability and less power draw

The only ones I've heard about are AMD's Kaveri APUs due in February. With Broadwell delayed until the second half of 2014.

SLI 285s is sort of GTX 295 (only faster) territory and will net you GTX 480 performance. You won't have the vram though and that's what'll screw you when you need it.

    I would get a new GPU. Something like the 7870 joker/XT or a 660ti.
