Can anyone see why I would have a problem running an 8800GTX and 9800GT on the same rig? Not done it yet but planning to later this week
Cheers, I was thinking along driver line though as I will need to use 8 and 9 series drivers which ive never tried before and dont know if they would clash
I tried a Geforce 6600GT and a GTX 260 just for testing purposes... my RAM went slower for some reason, but then again I have these early 16X SLI boards so it should be solved. Anyway, it worked fine. You don't need to re-install the drivers. The Nvidia drivers will detect what you did, and allow 4 display computer setup (or more if you add a third or forth video card). You do not need to install the SLI connector, as you are not/can't do SLI as both GPU's that you have is seen different. Nvidia uses 1 driver for all GPU's. It works for laptop, desktop, Geforce 2, Geforce FX, even the latest Geforce.
So... If I used an application that uses CUDA it would be done on my GTX 260. The 6600GT would only be used for additional monitors. Now, how does it play out in games... I don't know, I only have 1 monitor. My guess is that the game will always launch on the primary GPU, so the GTX 260 in my case.
