I have an i5-2500k on an asus p8p67 with an MSI gtx 560ti twinfrozr2. Which should i upgrade? They are displaying on a 24" 1080p screen. Budget: £300.

Thanks for your time and help.

The CPU is ok. For £300 you could upgrade to a high clocked 7970 (£260), or you could wait for the new AMD 9970 (this will be over £300, but it will push prices down).

A 7970 would be a big upgrade over the 560ti and play most games at max settings.

When will they be releasing the 9970? Another option is that I wait and hold the money if there are any new things just around the corner?

The 9970 is due in October. No price has been announced, but I'd be really surprised if it's under £400. No idea about the 9950s, it won't be too long after the 9970.

670s and 7950s are arguably much cheaper than the asking price of a 7970.

Likewise you could wait for the price drops on stock 925mhz 7970s and then push it to 1000mhz in about 2 seconds.

£260 is a superb deal on a binned 7970 with high end cooling.

I don't know about you, but GTX670s can be had for quite a deal less last I checked for the UK.

7970s on the other hand haven't received price cuts. :(

    But a 7970 is ahead of a 680, let alone a 670...
