I wonder if someone meant to put £300+ and miskeyed (although that's still very high) and the shill bidder in there is still bumping it up despite that.

Most X58 boards are over £100 now. Any Asus Board is at a premium. Granted not that much lol.
The chip everyone wants is only £40-£50 for some crazy performance really.

I think someone is trying to be funny and won't pay up when the auction is over.

The board inside that box is not a Sabertooth. It's looks like some mATX OEM board...

^ Well spotted. I didn't really take note of the image at first, but now that you mention it it's pretty easy to tell that it's not a high-end X58 motherboard.

Turns out it's a crappy Dell XPS motherboard (relatively easy to find it on google):

So did I just uncover an ebay drug ring?

I've emailed the seller a question, via Ebay. I'll come back with the answer, if I get one.

    Is this due to X5650s?

a real one would be worth about £150 irl, but this is a scam lol, i think people know due to the fake bids.

Yes Pre they are super cheap 6 core chips with hyper threading that are faster than skylake when you get a application that can use the threads.

X58 is also a very stable platform and is pretty easy to hit high overclocks on most chips. Most people have got the 6 cores above 4.2ghz.

Yep - I now run my X5650 at 4.4GHz. However I think that all the bids are a bit of a p*ss take, probably because the seller is trying to scam buyers (or just doesn't know anything about motherboards).

It's possible that they're waiting for the auction to be over before they finish using the X58 mobo, so they just took a picture of an old board and hoped no-one would notice. Still kinda of shady though.
