I have a ASUS P6TD Deluxe. Got to be careful with this board as it doesn't read all the ram, then If you have already installed OS and all modules are of the same Spec, Then go with installing 3x2gb first. into banks A1,B1,C1 then startup into Bios and enter ram settings manually (timings & Voltage & ram speed)), save and boot into windows check and see if all of the 6GB is available to windows. If so the shut down and PWR OFF and place second set (3x2gb) into bank A2,B2,C2. Again boot into windows and check to see if all the ram is available to windows.
I have done an update and it still only reads 2gb in the bios when I actually have 6gb installed Would it be better if I just went back to Windows XP
Yep - I am having a similar problem with the P6TD Deluxe and Win7 64bit. I got OCZ 1866 gold 3x2gb memory. Sometimes windows sees 4gb sometimes 6gb, but CPUz always reports 6gb installed. I am hoping its just a BIOS issue and keeping my eyes peeled for new versions often.
Two things that cause this. Ram needs changing or cpu the isnt making great contact with all its pins. No bios updates etc will sort it.
Just to check, does the BIOS fail to recognise the DIMMS as well, or just the OS? I know dick about it, really, but I'd guess that BIOS cannot see them = bad connections Only OS cannot see them = software problem, BIOS update needed or maybe try changing timings and such and see if it makes any difference. I know it shouldn't be able to, but it might.
Yes, with my scenario, I am leaning toward the fact that I may have a dodgy connection somewhere. I have swapped it about which cured the problem for a little while...but returned. Could be memory or DIMM slot..who knows... Strange that CPUz can see all 6gb without fail every time though.

This is to do with the CPU (in case some dimm will not boot), not only ASUS has this issue, Gigabyte and MSI are both having this issue too. Intel has to fix it........
Changed the voltage and it didn't work. I have tried everything and my screen goes to blank the after a while it changes to a light blue screen. Will now try and change my PSU but I tell you what I am sorry I went spent all this damn money and stayed with XP and a 775m socket, yeah I know I am real disheartened by this. The worst thing I took a weeks leave so i could have some fun.
Weird as it may seem this has now been sorted. Don't ask me how but I may have another issue. Got a HIS5870, I install windows 7 64bit and no problems except when I install the driver for the gfx card the PC boots and everything except when entering the windows it goes blank. I then put in my sons x1950xt and it installed no probs and ran ok in the OS. I then tried the 5870 again but to not avail.
