I have just recently built a new PC based on the May premium player with exception to the HSF as I thought the stock cooler would be good enough for the time being. My idle temperature is about 45c – 55c and under full load it’s getting near to TJ Max (100c) which is a bit too high for my liking. What do you suggest the best cooling solution would be? I have been looking at the Corsair H50, do you think this cooler is any good. I am not scared to try a water cooling solution if someone can point me in the direction of a decent water cooling kit. £250 would probably be the max I would spend on a cooling solution. Thanks

Titan Fenrir has been great for me.
Can't go wrong in getting one of those.

What are you actually planning to do with your computer? The stock heatsink is still absolutely ok for "normal" use.

Yeah as Edward said, it all depends on what you plan to do with your system.
stock air cooling is good enough if you run at stock, although you may want to buy an aftermarket cooler for quieter experiance and some light overclocking.

If your planning on on a heavy overclock with voltage changes then id go for watercooling.
From what i hear the H50 systems only perform slightly better than aftermarket air coolers, so id recommend you build your own.
£250 is a good budget, you should have no problem building a CPU loop.
Another advantage to building your own loop is in future, if you decide you want to cool motherboard/ Gfx card you've always got that option.

Thanks for the good advice, I think I will just build my own water cooling system. I have wanted to overclock my i7 930, but with the stock cooler it’s a no go. :wallbash:

for £250, custom water cooling will produce best result.

he's got Cooler Master ATCS 840, im psychic :)

edit: thought you said based on Premium player setup.

btw when picking the radiator make sure to go for the double thickness radiators and not the thin ones.
E.g. XSPC RX series (Double thickness) Vs. RS series (Single thickness)
The thicker rads produce better results at lower fan speeds.

I think 240 rad should be plenty for the CPU, you could always go bigger if you have plans to add other components, but i normally keep the cpu on seperate loop, to maximise cpu overclock.

If it is an ATCS 840 then it can fin an 360 rad at the top easily :)

building your own loop is a lot of fun, but as an alternative the H50 is def a great cooler for the price.

here are some food for thought items

    reservoir

    pump

    cpu block + backplate

    Radiator

    http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/product_info.php/info/p5421_XSPC-RX240-Dual-Radiator.html

    tubing

    CPU block fittings

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Bitspower-1-4-BSPP-1-2-ID-3-4-OD-Rotary-45-Degree-Comp-Matte-Black

    Other fittings pump,res,rad

    http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Bits...Compression-Fitting-CC5-For-ID-1-2-OD3-4-Tube

should all fall within the £250 limit, with enough left over if you wanted to maybe get a triple rad for future adding a gpu to the loop etc

fan wise there are a few to choose from my personal faves are these

    http://overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-003-DE

but they are damn loud at full speed :D

yate loon, noctua, scythe all make good fans, I am a "fan" of the s-flex series from scythe

Thank you so very much, you guys have been an excellent help, I will definitely take on board all your suggestions. BTW I have the Fractal Design Define R2 Black Pearl case, I wanted the obsidian 800d but it was way too big.
