The day he dies all Apple tech will stop working.

I am looking forward to it. (The second part of the sentence, not the first, mind you!)

So has he really just resigned from his position at Apple, or Apple? Sounds to me like he's found a clever young up start that he deems worthy of the image to take all the flak at the head for the lowest amount and allow Jobs to continue his work

why does this come under gaming?

I can't understand the melodrama surrounding this. Any other CEO resigns it's barely news. Someone tell the shareholders and fanboys the company doesn't revolve around one man!

We'll only see effect of this in a few years time. But I think this signals downfall of apple. Apple is nothing without Jobs.

you're either too young or too dumb - choice is yours, or just do a bit of research about him to understand why it's such a big news

It's not that he doesn't know who he is, but more why should Apple's CEO get big news like this (it's plastered everywhere on conventional sites like the BBC, Grauniad etc), whereas if the CEO of many other companies, who may or may not be as important globally, were to step down, they'd either hardly get a mention or none at all on mainstream news sites.

To me it's yet more slightly sad showing that Apple get free advertising on the mainstream media when taken in comparison with other companies.

Good time to shift though, given a recent decline in iPhone sales when compared with every growing Android sales.

@ Marvin-HHGTTG - that's what i meant, there are reasons why it's in the news around the world. Jobs created new means of consuming digital content and formed few categories on the market of digital devices and formed what we know today as a smartphone, not mentioning facts about awards he's gained as the best CEO and so on.

It is major news because this was a guy that turned a nearly bankrupt company into the most valuable company in the world. Apple does kinda revolve around one man, I only hope his successor is up to the task of filling jobs shoes.

Why is that? You do realise if apple take a downward turn tens of thousands of jobs are at stake.
