I have just installed an Asus Z170M Plus motherboard 6600K CPU and 16Gb RAM. Now what I want to but cannot seem to do is install Windows 7. It is necessary to jump through all sorts of hoops as you are continually asked for a driver. This thread pretty much sums it up. https://rog.asus.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-74220.html I have tried following this from Asus http://dlcdnet.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb..._print.pdf?_ga=1.977970.2032985831.1463150474 which does not seem to work. Not that I have tried the EZ installer route as I cannot find that on the motherboard support disk. Tried using Rufus https://rufus.akeo.ie/?locale=pt but no luck. I suspect that my fibromyalgia is not helping here and I am really struggling to solve this issue. So any pointers will be gratefully received. PS: strangely my PC has booted to the desk op but with out drivers for Lan ETC but I suspect that is of no help.
just had a look around some say to try the new tool to create a Windows 7 installation file with USB 3.0 drivers preloaded for Braswell series motherboards. http://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/Z170M-PLUS/HelpDesk_Download/ or some of these Z170M have the motherboard BIOS has emulation that allows the older ECHI drivers to work. Some boards do have this feature - hope this helps you. there are lot of people with this problem
Yup. There's an installer which modifies an existing ISO to include the necessary drivers to install windows 7 on Z170 .
1: Download the Intel Lan driver on another device from http://www.asus.com/uk/Motherboards/Z170M-PLUS/HelpDesk_Download/ 2: Move it via usb / sd card / whatever to the newly installed Windows. 3: Scream about the incompetence of Microsoft and Intel who continue to fail to work together to include a Lan driver with Windows and no, there is no other solution on the horizon, the problem still exists with Intel Lan controllers and Windows 10. 4: Download rest of drivers on the pc where you need them.
Thanks all, I got in touch with Asus Live Chat who sent me a link to the EZ Installer which is supposed to be on the support disk but I was unable to find it. I used to create a modified installation ISO for USB and I am now installing Windows. This has been a bad day still it looks good. Need another splitter as I am not going to use grid+ V2.
