I'm running the SMP 6.23 system tray client. The problem is it's not using 100% of the processing power available, the load is staggered across the four cores with core 0, 1, 2 doing about 60% load and core 3 is doing less to make the usage just over 50%.

The CPU usage lines are quite erratic!

What can I do to make the cores work at 100%?

    Thanks,
    Bonzo

There is no system tray SMP client.

Did you download MPICH or Deino?

Have you followed the guide & created a shortcut with -smp on the end of the command line?

OK, this is making me think that I have the wrong client... can somebody point me in the right direction.

What is the difference between MPICH/Deino?

    Use MPICH from here.
Remember to download the drop in exe after install to keep it working.

If you're using a quad core then follow this guide for maximum points

I'm trying to install the SMP MPICH client, however when the guide says to type fah6 -configonly -smp nothing happens. I don't get any errors it just skips a line in the command prompt and gives the directory again.

    Why is this?

    Thanks,
    Bonzo

I usually just navigate to the install directory & run install.bat

I ran the install.bat and it was completed and it said it was working twice which is what it is supposed to, but I can't configure the client.

    Any ideas?

Now create a shortcut to the folding@home exe in that folder. Right click it and go to properties.

At the end of the target add -smp

Then OK out of the properties and Double click your shortcut.
The first time it runs it'll ask you to config it.

If you're using Vista turn off UAC.

I added the -smp to no avail, a command box opens up for a split second and then closes, like it did when I was running -configonly -smp before.

I'm using the system in my signature and Windows XP home SP3

    Is .net 2 installed?

    Have you tried a reboot?

Yeah .net framwork 2 is installed and I've tried restarting my PC and re-installing and re-downloading the client.

The only client I could find on the website was a BETA, are there any stable builds I could try?

I run that version on loads of machines no worries.

Did you download the drop in exe file and put it in that directory?
