I wonder if this is because of the exchange rates being more favourable or the fact most people are [reportedly] buying the Vive instead.

While the exchange rate has gone back up a bit it is still worse than when the Rift launched in the UK.

Well, £499 at the current $1.26/£1 exchange rate is $628.74; £549 at the $1.30/£1 it was back in August when the Rift hit retail is $713.70 - so I think we can rule out currency fluctuation as the cause of the discount!

(Speaking of exchange rates, don't you just love the headlines you get? "Pound Soars," the BBC burbled when Theresa May bumbled her way through that ridiculous Article 50 'plan' speech. Yeah, "soars" to still massively below where it was before we took our economy out the back and put a referendum bullet in its head...)

S'difficult to talk about exchange rates without thinking about why the Pound is suddenly worth so much less!

Our currency was over valued for years by at least 15cent. $1.30 / $1.35 is optimal according to most websites.

I'd say the vive having two discounts (that I know of) recently may have pushed Oculus to have a wee new year discount.
