    Hi guys,

    I'm trying to figure out a way of recording Match of the Day without buying any new gear. Unfortunately iPlayer has to wait 3-4 days before showing it, by which time watching it is pointless.

    I've got a TV with freeview, PS3, Xbox and a PC (no TV card). Anyone know a good way to do so?

    Yep. If you're skint you'll find some dirt cheap Freeview recorders (120-160GB) on eBay second hand.

    "Without buying any new gear" is a bit of an issue when you don't seem to have any gear capable of recording a video stream.

    So, ideas;
    - Mount a camera phone facing the TV, use an app to schedule the camera to start recording video when you are out.
    - Find an old video recorder in your or someone else's loft.
    - Or (of course)... You know... :)

    The cheapest way that would be convenient (ie. other than a dirt cheap usb video capture card) seems to be a cheap "bring your own usb/sd storage" freeview pvr dongly thing: http://www.amazon.co.uk/FREEVIEW-DIGITAL-RECEIVER-RECORDER-Digi-fun®/dp/B003YT5XLU
    Looks cheap and nasty, but is very cheap (£20 + what ever usb/sd storage you have lying around/buy) and the reviews are actually pretty positive.

    Buying a TV card or Freeview recorder are only option, unless you TV has record function if you plug in a USB stick

    Get a TV-card (PCIe or USB) or a PVR.

    There's no other options with your current hardware.

    MOTD is on at stupid bloody times.

    Late on a Sat and super early on a Sunday!

    So the "you know" is the best option.
