    1 x win7 2gb
    1 x unbunto 2gb
    1 x mac os x 2gb
    1 x server 2k8r2 4gb

    Technically it'd run.

You have over provisioned on the RAM but ESXi can deal with that. You may get some slowdowns due to memory swapping but it will run.

Just make sure your NIC is on the HCL

What saspro said, and just remember that ESXi is baremetal so you'll have to access those guests remotely. If you want four different desktop operating systems you'd need VMware Workstation or VirtualBox.

You probably already know this, but I wanted to be sure as not everyone realises!

i3's don't have Vtx either: dunno if Esxi needs it or not, but its one thing to consider.
