I've a few screens lying around and would like to manage 6 screens.... cards available are 2x gtx570's 1x 6870 1gb 1x 9800gx2 1x 8800 mobo is 68x with 3x pcie games only need 3 monitors off the 570's via sli loads of hdmi and dvi cables can I drop the 6870 in for the extra monitors (no games) thoughts?
can I run it alongside the 2x gtx 570's in sli? 6 screens only needed in windows? I suppose heck give it a go?
that won't work you'd need amd and nvidea driver's working alongside each, and thats just not gonna happen, which 6870 is it that you've got? from ones I've seen looks like most of them can run between 4 and 5 monitor's (only in windows obviously) there's only 1 card I know that can run 6 displays at once and i think thats the 5870 eyefinity 6 edition or might have been the 5970 your best bet other than buying another 6870 is to use the two gtx 570's and the 9800gt
gtx 570's and the 9800gt would be fine any idea on stands? willing to give it a shot my mobo is p8z68zpro - ill lose some usb I guess - do you think I could still have sound cards? dx and dx2 in the (spares) box....
Not sure what size your screens are but something like this http://www.scan.co.uk/products/scan...15-24-ideal-for-multi-screen-gaming-eyefinity ??
sounds perfect - just need stand - any recomendations for 6 monitor stands - can only see 3 monitor stands...
It will be very difficult to find a stand for 6, most 4+ solutions involve a deskmount. You could always have one made if it needs to be freestanding. Some pipe, and 6 pipe mount vesa brackets would do the job nicely. You could even make it floor standing with curved pipe like some solutions I have seen.
While that runs true for XP windows 7 will happlily run multiple display drivers aongside each other with no issues.
